In 2009 PetroKazakhstan carries on its traditional projects in Almaty and Astana to support the Kenes Disabled Children Rehabilitation and Social Adaptation Center, the World War II Veterans Association of Almaty and Almaly District, South Kazakhstan Veterans-Geologists Association, Red Crescent Society, Almaty Choreographic School after A.B. Seleznev, Federation of Table Tennis of RoK, Jiu-Jitsu Federation of RoK, as well as other projects. One of the major areas of the Company’s charity and sponsorship activities are to help those organizations which do their best to save the lives of children in Kazakhstan, among which are orphan children and just ordinary children, whose families lack any means to provide the required medical treatment. In Almaty the company takes active part in activities of Voluntary Society Miloserdiye (DOM) Public Fund, ensuring its continuous, smooth and efficient work. As is known, this fund is engaged into organizing the medical treatment abroad for children whose diseases cannot be cured in Kazakhstan. The staff of the Fund arranges the full scope of works related to the search of the suitable hospital for each child on individual basis, fundraising for transportation, accommodation, treatment, rehabilitation period and chaperoning the child by adult. We are proud of our participation in the widely known campaign of the Fund – “Present Children with Live”, which indeed, gave a chance to children to have a healthy future and joy to their parents. In 2010 PetroKazakhstan financed the creation of the first documentary on charity - “Present Children with Live”. Film was shot by I.M. Gonopolsky, the outstanding Kazakhstani documentary film maker. This documentary had drawn a wide response in society, and we hope that problems raised in it will be positively resolved in the future. In 2011 the company supporting the DOM, became a sponsor of the “Present Children with Live” program on Khabar TV-channel, with the help of which even more ill children would have a chance to get cured and live fully enjoying the life.
With the assistance of PetroKazakhstan the Umit Hearing-Impaired Persons Support Center opened a Health Salon providing job places for handicapped people. Having taken specialized courses these invalids acquired necessary hairdressing, manicure-pedicure, massage and cosmetology skills. Having a chance for a regular job and earnings means a confidence in future.
Our war and labor veterans were not forgotten as well. Annually the company allocates funds to Almaly War Veterans Association of Almaty and for the last two years City Council of War Veterans receives charity on behalf of the company as well. There are not many veterans left today and company paying the tribute to their heroic deeds, tries to help as much as possible.
It has become an annual tradition for our company to take part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the Geologists Day. Veterans-geologists of South Kazakhstan, which are warded by us, had a chance to meet and communicate with their colleagues, and call to memory all those who have gone. Surprisingly, being young in their hearts our veterans called to memory those harsh days of geologists, heat and cold of steppes … all that gave start to “neftyanka” (oil business).
