Another priority of PetroKazakhstan’s social activity is - development of sports in the regions of its operation. Thus, in 1997 the Company’s management, jointly with the Department of Tourism and Sports of Kyzylorda oblast, decided to organize basketball and soccer tournaments among the oblast school children for the cups and prizes of PetroKazakhstan. It is a pleasure to see that throughout the 12 years these tournaments acquired such popularity that they extended beyond the borders of Kyzylorda oblast. For instance, during the past years the children from Turkestan and Russia have been having a good chance of winning. Also, in 1997, the first tournament in one of the ancient national games called Togyz Kumalak, and the first Special Olympics for handicapped children were conducted. Nowadays, 60 – 80 children participate in this Olympics.

For many years PetroKazakhstan acts as the general sponsor of Kaisar soccer club. Besides that, throughout the past several years PetroKazakhstan has been sponsoring the active development of heavy athletics in Kyzylorda oblast. In particular, the Company provided direct assistance for the preparation of the heavy athletics champion in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing -  Ilya Ilin.
