On
September 11, 2022, the largest marathon was held in Shymkent - "Shymkent
Marathon," the number of participants of which was almost 5,000 people
from 60 cities of Kazakhstan and CIS countries. Together with the residents of
Shymkent and the guests of the city, 20 runners from Shymkent refinery went to
the start, among them the representative of the refinery chief executives - Jiang
Riyuan, First Vice President.
In
general, it is worth pointing out that running culture in Shymkent has been
dynamically developing in recent years, several running clubs actively function
in the city, open free-of-charge running training has been organized at the
central stadium and in dendrological park. However, “Shymkent Marathon”
occupies a special place and is rightfully considered one of the most popular
sports events in the city.
It
is noteworthy that the marathon has been held since 2018 and gains momentum
every year, attracting more and more participants. In total, 6 distances were
presented: 5 km, 10 km, 21 km, 42 km (classic marathon), Nordic walking and relay
marathon (relay race), for this purpose the prize fund of the project amounted
to 11 million tenge.
For
our refinery employees this marathon became an occasion to be proud of. Oilmen showed
decent performance at the sports event and finished in accordance with the
selected distances. Bakhyt Yeregenov, Technical Director and Yaroslav Bandurko,
Leader, Materials Management Team, who took prize-winning places, recorded
their names in the pages of sports achievements. Please note that Bakhyt Yeregenov,
covered a distance of 5 km in the category of marathon runners, who are over
the age of 50, having won the second honorable place.
Yaroslav
Bandurko, who ran the same distance in the 40 + category and took the third
place, noted that "the marathon became one more sports holiday." Since
2018 Yaroslav has not missed Shymkent Marathon races and for him it is "an
opportunity to see so many happy faces, the positive and motivation in one day,
as well as to feel the competitive atmosphere."
We
congratulate our colleagues on their victories!
And we wish new sports achievements and conquest of the highest peaks!
